Our History

In the early 1900’s the southwest side of Winnipeg was the heart of the city’s dairy business. It provided the early residents of Winnipeg with a critical supply of wholesome milk and other fresh dairy products. The Van Walleghem families were pioneers in this dairy business and between 1900 and the present operated six dairies or dairy farms in the area. Some of these dairies were located on the land that has now become the Lindenwoods Community. Named in honour of the family, École Van Walleghem School opened in the fall of 1987. Until July 2002 we were part of the Assiniboine South School Division. We are now part of the Pembina Trails School Division which includes schools in the neighbourhoods of Fort Garry, Fort Richmond, Lindenwoods, Whyte Ridge, Linden Ridge, Tuxedo and Charleswood.

As of September 2007, the enrolment at the school is projected to be some 525 students, with English Instruction and French Immersion Instruction Programs offered, Kindergarten through Grade 8.
