School Library
Van Walleghem Staff believe that the most important gifts we can give children is the love of reading. We strive to foster a life-long love of reading and learning. Students are encouraged to explore a wide variety of print resources in the library, including fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, atlases, almanacs, encyclopedias and Internet computer stations with on-line encyclopedias and worldwide research.
The school library program is integrated with the classroom programs, and information skills are taught in conjunction with classroom units. The library houses more than 10,000 English and French books. Students have ‘class book exchanges’ once per school cycle but students are encouraged to exchange their books whenever necessary. Students are also invited to the library to do research and use the computer.
The library is the heart of the school, everyone is welcome to stop by and read with us. Library hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
